Quin

Background
Quindleberry Tinkerskribe also known as "Quin", used to be in training at the most famed school of Meletis, The Dekatia. A most preeminent school of mages and philosophers considered to be the wisest of the wise. While studying at the school Quin worked on the project of mapping and writing about the unknown parts of the world. Mapping uncharted territories and filling in the gaps of maps already made.
Quin's mentor during his education was an elven woman called Zinerva, she was working her way towards joining the true upper echelon of the school, the Elpidians. They are a group of philosophers who subscribe to the Elpidian[1] branch of philosophy which is currently popular in Meletis.
Unfortunately for her she was ruined by a fellow academic, who leaked part of her work in order to gain more recognition. But instead it simply lead to a scandal because the subject was quite controversial. Which led to her being accused of negligence and a lack of academic ethics. A fatal blow to any hope of hear becoming part of the Elpidians for quite a while. As such, the runic automaton which she created, called A.R.C.H.I.E was left in storage closet at the Academy.
Quin also had a hand in this scandal, as it was through him that information originally reached the academic who leaked the information. This and the schools dismissal of Quin's chosen subject by refusing him grants and resources for expeditions lead to his disillusionment with the Dekatia. Instead Quin now seeks to perform his research on his own, where perhaps he will have greater success.
The optimistic Elpidian school currently predominates Meletian thought and politics, carrying on the works of the heroic Ephara:n oracle Elpidios. The Elpidian school strives to put magic and philosophy to use in improving the lives of all Meletians. Elpidian mages embrace magic in all its forms. ↩︎
